Safety Tips

Last Updated: May 15, 2026

Meeting new people is exciting, but your safety is our top priority. At BOOM-GEN, we want you to have the best experience possible while staying in control. Whether you are looking for a new coffee companion or a lifelong friend, follow these guidelines to stay safe online and in person.

1. Online Safety

Never Send Money or Share Financial Information

This is the most important rule. Never send money, especially by wire transfer, even if the person claims to be in an emergency. Stop communicating immediately and report any user who asks for:

  • Money or financial assistance.
  • Your Social Security number or ID details.
  • Your bank account or credit card info.
  • Your home or work address.

Protect Your Account

Don’t share your login credentials with anyone. BOOM-GEN will never send you an email asking for your password. If you receive a suspicious link or request, do not click on it and report it to us.

Stay on the Platform

Keep conversations on the BOOM-GEN platform while you are getting to know someone. Users with bad intentions often try to move the conversation to WhatsApp, Telegram, or email immediately to avoid our moderation tools.

Be Wary of Long-Distance and Overseas Relationships

Watch out for «friends» who claim to be from your area but are «stuck» abroad or working in a remote location and need financial help to return or visit you.

2. Meeting in Person

Take Your Time

Get to know the other person through the app first. We recommend using our Video Chat feature to verify that the person you are talking to matches their profile photos before meeting in person.

Meet in Public and Stay in Public

For your first few meetings, always choose a busy, public place—like a café, park, or restaurant. Never meet at your home, their home, or any other private location.

Tell a Friend or Family Member

Always let someone you trust know where you are going, who you are meeting, and what time you expect to be back. Keep your phone charged and with you at all times.

Stay in Control of Your Transportation

Be in control of how you get to and from the meeting. Do not let the other person pick you up at your home or drop you off. If the meeting isn’t going well, you should be able to leave whenever you want.

Know Your Limits

Be mindful of the consumption of alcohol or other substances. These can impair your judgment and your ability to react to a situation. Never leave your drink or personal belongings unattended.

3. Reporting and Support

When to Report a User

You are the best judge of your safety. Please report any behavior that violates our terms or makes you feel uncomfortable, such as:

  • Requests for money or donations.
  • Harassment, threats, or offensive messages.
  • Profiles that appear to be fake or using someone else’s photos.
  • Minors using the app.
  • Spam or links to commercial websites.

How to Report

You can report any profile directly through the app by clicking the «Report» button on their profile page or within the chat. All reports are kept confidential.

Emergency Resources

If you are in immediate danger or feel threatened, call 911 (or your local emergency services) immediately.

For additional support, you can contact:

  • National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)
  • RAINN (Sexual Assault Hotline): 1-800-656-HOPE (4673)
  • FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): ic3.gov
